Role Summary
Political Affairs Manager is a fast-‐paced position supporting the VP of Political Affairs and
Communications. Some responsibilities include, but are not limited to: day-‐to-‐day management and
execution of the Political Affairs Program, communicating directly with Political Action Committee
members, planning and executing all Governance Meetings, assisting in the execution of the outreach
and communication plan via traditional and social media channels, and ensuring all PAC and IE
transactions are compliant with FPPC regulations.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Support the Vice President of Political Affairs and Communications in developing and implementing
the political strategy for CBIA - Assist in developing a strategic plan for our political priorities and including identifying key
legislative races, and managing contributions - Identify, analyze and monitor political developments, trends and emerging issues
- Assist in the management of the Golden One Center Suite
- Manage contributions for all state legislators and ensure all contributions comply with FPPC
regulations - Ensure the PAC budget is updated, and current fundraisers are included for both Primary and
General Elections - Foster and maintain relationships with state legislators and staff
- Manage Fundraisers and distribute between Govt. Affairs and Political Affairs team
- Occasional travel for political events/fundraisers
- Responsible for development of policy committee materials for Political Action Committee
- Communication with Political Action Committee Members including obtaining approvals for
fundraising events, updating members on legislative races or I.E. activities - Manage and direct the communications strategies including; managing social media, website,
and producing messaging for external/media and the membership. - Responsible for CBIA’s website content
Education/Experience (both preferred and required)
- BA/BS degree or equivalent experience
- 3 – 5 years relevant experience in the political or association world
- Experience in communication and/or public relations, including advanced writing skills
- Experience managing and planning major events
